A mysterious Merlin lives in the forest
hermit-like and arcane in habit
preferring dark, moistly shaded
areas hidden from the sun's brilliant rays
for he has secrets not to be divulged
and is shy of recognition much
preferring subtle camouflage to
become invisible to the vagrant eye
his green hood disguising the purple-green
stripes of a jaunty hidden cape
discreetly curled over the elegance
of his reproductive organ for
Jack-in-the-Pulpit is not a flasher
but a wickedly modest forest denizen.
