The forest shields its mysteries well yet
it is not entirely averse to yielding them
to those familiarizing themselves with its
discrete and hidden byways knowing there
exists within its open confines the drama
of life and death in a never-ending cycle
of opportunity and survival. There where
the dens of foxes and coyotes compete as
carnivores as much as hawks and owls
make quick work of prey not swift enough
to outrun their predations. Under the forest
floor snakes patrol their dark territory while
above raccoons with their clever grasping
hands advantage themselves wholesale as
clever beasts of the forest which hosts an
array of lifeforms benign or hostile with a
share of edible vegetation balanced by
counterparts harmful and poisonous. So do
take care on entering this haven of wild
though humanity's penchant for destruction
violating nature's sacred trust elevates
harm to a degree no forest denizens can.
