Conundrum
The world is afire with the rejectionof racism -- oh, not generally, no -- a veryparticular type of bigotry expressed asanti-Black, a part of humanity that haslong suffered the bludgeon of prejudiceand injustice whose history is one of miseryand slavery, viewed with suspicion anddread by others for the modern-dayreputation which many among themhave earned for civic violence andrejection of social norms in an underworldof gangs and guns and drugs. Preying ontheir own and on others alike they evokelawful vigilance yet their community decriestheir over-representation in prisons evenwhile they are over-represented in crime.Poverty, inequality, lack of opportunitythough such conditions fail to producesimilar outcomes in other groups whosuffer the same viral indignities are thescaffolding upon which failure is presumedto unfold. The elite aristocracy of the Blackcommunity looks with disdain upon theBlack flotsam and community leaders seescant success in persuading young Black mento assume maturity and responsibility andwomen to raise their children wholesomelyin family units rather than as recruits for thenext generation of thuggish gangs. Whileanti-Black racism protests now roil the worldmany among them are white, many are ethnicsome whose history is more fraught withhorror than theirs, yet outraged Blacks andtheir presumptive leaders sneer at all whitesas oppressors as they mount rancid accusationsof cupidity on the backs of Blacks on the Jewishcommunity. Now who are the flaming racists?
