Jean's Journal, Vol.16, No.3

Herewith, the latest selection from dusted-off published poetry and short fiction, circa 1970s vintage and beyond....

Animal Husbandry

How could I
foresee it
Nomad?
Your loping gait
rambling restless
through this place
we share
shoulders leaning
against the confining air.

What time
warped your
presence here?
Innocent room
transformed to
bar-curved cage.

At night
beside me
I sense the odour
of your passion;
wanderlust denied.

I look these days
into archaic mirrors
reflecting the grim
lines of the experienced
Wild Animal Trainer.
