Echos, Vol.2, No.5

Herewith, the latest selection from dusted-off published poetry and short fiction, circa 1970s vintage and beyond....

Insight

I once had
a pure-bred miniature dog
proud and high-strung
nervous and yappy
intransigent
and stupidly aggressive
demanding yet giving
nothing herself
of satisfaction. I
eventually
got fed up
gave the
little bitch away
to the first taker.
I hope they're both happy.

Strange though
soon after
I began to notice
how like their owners
most dogs are
in appearance
and temperament.
Know the dog
and you know the owner.

This insight
has made me
extremely nervous.
