Garden Discobolus

It speaks to our humanity, an archaic
figure from well before the Common
Era, a cultural artefact reflecting Greek
art and culture expressed in statuary
so elegantly depicted the very stance
of the man throwing a discus in a
display of virtuosity both on the part
of the ancient athlete and his artistic
coeval speaks of a rich tapestry of
history reflecting human nature the
origins of which mystifies us to this day
as we admire the kinetic motion and the
human form masterfully sculpted and
in my garden a favoured and admired
presence. Time has distanced this
remnant of a glorious period in
civilizational cultural values where the
human body and its form and function
was immortalized. Prosaically has
nature itself diminished its presence
enclosed and engulfed between verdant
living trees; the ancient and the present.
