The Power of the Forsworn Word

Never before has the great wide public

enjoyed the rare prerogative given to royalty

celebrity and literary giants to express an

opinion, offer a bon mot, offend a community

post gratuitous photographs of bare flesh

boast their supreme confidence in self

and boost a theory while promulgating

the dark side of epiphanies celebrating

the violation of humanity's search for amity

as during this age of amplified equality of

expressive opportunity. The lowliest among

us can express sentiments with aplomb equal

to that of a crowned monarch, a sordid celebrity

hoping to gather a dedicated following whose

numbers are proof positive of their wit and

wisdom. Yet even there in that wilderness of

communication there are rules and regulations

not government-issued but deliberations of

permittedness by the arbiters whose shining

platforms of expression are open to all and

closed to those chosen to represent the motley

unrepresentative of society by those with the

ultimate power to designate heads of terrorist

groups and governments perfectly legitimate

purveyors of hatred and violence, inexcusable

in those whose ideologies confront their own.
