There are many similarities between
creatures of which we are one yet we are
distinguished from others not because other
animals are designed so differently than are
we but as a result of differentiation in the
nuances of our thought and emotion. Those
fundamental emotions of awareness and of
danger subservient to the will to survive are
universally shared. The emotions of contentment
or of fear we also share along with another
link to survival; the impulse of greed that
compels us to acquire the means by which
life and pleasure are prolonged. The sole
distinguishing feature is that of pensive
introspection, wondering where went those
precious years of existence, why so swiftly
gone, the tunnel of life leading us on to the
inexorable conclusion of life extinguished.
