The sandal-clad, sackcloth-mantled
Judaean prophet who perished
agonizingly on a Roman cross
for his Jewish defiance and faith
and gave courage and hope to the
forgotten left a legacy of suffering
for his tribal descendants that no
power, theist or human has ever
lifted. The faithful over the millennia
who worship at his stigmata-feet
appeal to his intervention with his
father the deity above all others whose
wisdom and care elevates humanity
in a transport of divine love. As God's
messenger he is worshipped as the
emissary tasked to save humanity
from itself, a humble teacher of the
godly virtue of forbearance shunning
bitter division. Yet his adoring followers
heap scorn and derision on the very
creche that brought Yeshua to his
singular mission, inspiring the beast
in humanity to touch the wings of the
heavenly host in meek supplication.
