The Delirium of Power

Riot police detain protesters during an opposition rally to reject the presidential election results in Minsk, Belarus

The intoxicating delirium of power

and unitary control rumbles through the

dreams of tyrants and the nightmares of all

for whom dictatorial power crumples before

the lens of cerebral reasoning and moral direction.

There is never at any given time in history a

shortage of aspirers to power just as the

cautionary fear of the emergence of despotic

oppressors is not lacking among those whose

history has been rife with absolutist inquisitors

who set rules none may disobey on pain of

punishing deterrence. The misruled resort to

the subterfuge of obedience while covertly

gathering restive cliques of rebellion seldom

achieving their goal for the very arms of the

oppressor geared to suppress disharmony among

diverse disentitled derive their strength from

force of violence meted out generously to fully

extinguish disaffection by the well-known

pacifiers of torture and premature death.
