Rebellion

The world is aflame. There is no place
on this Earth that has not been touched
by a rebellious nature that has afflicted
its terrified creatures by demonstrations
of powerful storms, tremblors, hurricanes
volcanic eruptions, wildfires, floods
leaving all life as witness to these events
devastated and prostrate with fear and
there is nowhere to escape to for this is
our world. As though to emulate nature
the world of humankind is also erupting
in a vast cataclysmic tremblor of rage
well seasoned with wild disaffection for
the oppression and misery their leaders
bestow upon their vulnerable populations
leading them into conflicts they have no
wish to be part of, targeting them as well
as purported enemies. From Afghanistan
to Venezuela, Iraq to Chile, all quarters of
the globe are afire protesters crowding the
streets and squares of Hong Kong and
Egypt, Lebanon and Iran in a mass protest
against corruption and greed where even
leaders perverting the promise of democracy
have not been exempt from the public's
outcries even as government troops move
in to beat back the great swell of humanity
incarcerating, torturing, killing in the
gentle persuasive nudge toward pacification.
