Her Struggles
Elbows raised and crooked, arms
swinging wildly from side to side
like a rotund and clumsy somewhat
crazed penguin attempting to find its
element, yet uncompromisingly
awkward she struggles to gain some
traction. Try as she might she will
never be enabled to stride side-by-side
with the man she chose to share
her future with whose goal appears
to be leaving her behind but likely
is not, since she is a competent
housewife and fair cook, willing
uncomplainingly to cope with this
man's visceral dislike for civility
amply evidenced in his determined
avoidance of greeting neighbours
he has lived alongside for decades
immersed in his interior grudging
world of frowning misery forever
hauling his faithful wife behind.
