As The World Turns
Once a great and mighty empire whose
grace and culture, riches and renown was
legendary, that empire suffered the fate of all
such that once existed falling into steep decline
threatening to become an end-note in history.
But history has not finished with that empire
and it has once again risen this time with
a reputation less savoury, but as a powerhouse
of determined entrepreneurial and marketing
skills it is not its culture, its arts and science
but rather technology in all its vast and varied
manifestations in which it now leads the world.
A century ago the concern was of a 'yellow
peril', with millions of starving Chinese
peasants converging beyond their continent
to invade those of the West when suddenly
an ideological revolutionary cabal transformed
that vast nation into a bulwark of opportunity
for some and a death knell for millions who
failed to conform. That invasion of the afflicted
never materialized until another paroxysm of
transformation to meld that creed with another
led to a vast exodus of the curious and well
endowed as tourists world-wide while their
government was busy ushering in a new world
order with China leading the way in production
and pricing, trade and monopolization of
industry and growing wealth. The invasion
that failed now overtaken by Chinese ownership
of giant corporations at home and abroad taking
possession of vital initiatives and materials
investing itself in all global spheres of influence
production and capital leaping into the future
as the monolithic arbiter and owner of all
that matters in the material world finally
realizing the import of unstoppable ambition.
