Two thirds of the restive population anywhere
in the world where COVID has rampaged
remains compliant while the remainder is defiant
the former convinced on unassailable evidence
that this invisible predator is fully capable of
diminishing opportunities for survival normally
taken for granted -- while the latter scoffs at the
timidity of their peers over the presence of yet
another cold virus that has enabled governments
to ride rough-shod over civil rights. Global deaths
of millions, hospitals stretched beyond their limits
endless cycles of shut-downs, crumbling commerce
drowning state economies in emergency pledges
of financial rescue, figments all of over-active
imaginations, ploys by governments to wrest control
over the placid governed. Protests and riots
mounted by the vociferous few against the fearful
many as COVID-wrought chaos reigns supreme
in a global challenge: nature vs human nature.
