Whether fortune or destiny it has been quite
the trip of a lifetime the most serendipitous
of all adventures. Its embarkation point at the
chance meeting of two fourteen-year olds with
much in common excepting gender. From that
time forward a brace of lookalikes, thinkalikes
on the express that briefly stops at a multitude
of heralded markers on the highway through a
lifetime of a shared destination. You laugh
together now at the personality reversals when
one was withdrawn and socially awkward
the other a sometimes-extrovert and now the
exchange is complete. The gossamer ribbon of
need and love binding you cherished, taut and
inflexible, a chronic condition replete with the
magic of fairy dust generously sprinkled over
eyes that see not the inexorable transformation
of enfeebled age but the vision of each in youth
the healthful vigour of life's travel companions.
