The forest has seen sun this day, and rain.
Its interior, forever in dusk at midday invited
the dark of night to enter. The forest crown
dense with earlier rain sun hadn't yet dried
intermittently blasted by a hot summer wind and
it dripped incessantly onto the sodden forest
floor. Foliage glistened and dark emerald
enfolded the forest whose aura of mystery
deepened even as the colour shades glowed
as with a source of unknown light gleaming
through the ceiling of heaven which had
suddenly shut out the sun and from whence
night eclipsed day. A soft pattering of rain
on trees trickling gently through the saturated
canopy flung back and forth by gusts of newly
awakened wind heated by the furnace of the
absent sun. The furious sound of rainsqualls
falling in waves broken by teasing recessions
and the picture of a dark landscape steeped in
rainfall, hushed by absent birdsong with
looming old giants hovering, shuddering
over the cowed forest understory prevailed.
