Taming November

That magnificent orb of brilliant
energy nonchalantly sails upon
the pacific beneficence of an
endless blue sky offering the
comfort of a brief respite in
Indian Summer, inviting all to
bare their limbs to be hugged
by the warmth, kissed by the sun,
blessed by the breeze; assurance
that Nature is often gently disposed
between spasms of raw indifference.
A bemused robin peals its spring
melody, and crickets resume
their manic chorus even while
late-blooming asters proudly
flush new buds, and deciduous
trees suddenly wonder why all
their foliage has departed the scene.
