Perhaps it makes perfect sense that a delusional
autocrat obsessed with the personal grandeur
of having achieved the ultimate position of
command would feel entitled to an escape from
the rigours of demand performance requiring
extravagant palaces built throughout his
capacious territory yet hungering for more
orders his troops to a full-scale invasion of a
neighbour's sovereign lands for incorporation
into his own, allowing his military free reign to
loot and to rape and murder at will for this is the
way of triumphant conquest. It is little wonder that
a mind so corrupted would develop a phobia
of being felled by a dread disease against which
his palaces become hermitages, his aides devoted
on pain of death to forestalling poisoned food or
the stealth entry of an assassin. His dreams of power
and conquest achieved, his life become a tomb.
