So, you think you're special, do you?
Not your fault. After all we've been assured
all of us that we are distinguished by our
uniqueness as human beings, that no one is
exactly like us. Well, you might have one of
those odd similarities in a Doppelganger but
that would be someone whose physiognomy
resembles yours. Your mind is all your very own
and it's special, reflecting how only you arrive
at conclusions, how you feel about issues, what
you value and hold dear, and your aspirations for
your life, your future. You uniquely hold dear
others who have meaning in your life. These
things are manifest without question. Turns out
my friend, it's all a fond conceit, an illusion not
to be tolerated a moment longer. You are in fact
not who you are but what you are. In the sense of
what group you are a part of. Never been a joiner?
No matter. Now you're white or someone of colour.
Which makes you either authentic or a colonial.
Now you're a person attached to an ethnic group.
Now you're a conservative, a liberal, left-wing
progressive, woke or an anarchist. You might be
identified as LGBTQ2 but not yourself. You are
what you are and it isn't what you felt you are.
