Simulacrum Extraordinaire

The biosphere is a living wonder
exquisitely designed by nature whose
creations reflect complex organisms
endowed with brilliantly-conceived
existential benefits meant to enhance
survival. Creatures large and small
whose creation, primally conceived and
engraved in endless time whose existence
either failed or succeeded in establishing
their presence through a laborious and
time-absorbing experiment of rejection
or acceptance as evolution prescribed.
The humble sea cucumber expels its
viscera to deflect a rapacious predator
itself surviving to regrow substitutes.
Butterflies with 'eyes' on their wings to
unsettle swooping birds' appetites.
Plant life exuding noxious fumes to
dissuade animals intent on consuming
them. Animals whose powerful scented
spray sends intended predators scrambling
to escape. Others capable of injecting
sharp quills into carnivores. Nature is a
living, unequalled marvel of industrious
design. Equipping humankind with a
prodigious brain she created an adversary
challenging her devices. That bug you
see over there ... and there a bird, they
are, you see, watching you. Controlled
remotely through the agency of a human
mind they send back surveillance videos
and live sound, employed by a sinister
force to monitor all that you do and are.
