Autumn Gold

Truly, it's a golden day in the
forest. Shades of imperial gold
reflect throughout the leaf mass
hanging on tree spires in glad
celebration of autumn, soon
tumbling, scattered by a
mischief-prone howling wind
to a dazzling plush layer of
melded gold nuggets, like a
moving mat of mysterious origin
lifted from the forest floor by
wayward gusts. The golden
chariot of the sun sparks the
fire of gold in all its radiant
outreach illuminating the forest
canopy, sending its golden beams
in search of the treasures in
abundance on poplars, maples and
birch bursting with golden pride.
