The Garden Stormed

As twilight prepared to cast
its pale veil over the landscape
darkness of a more purposeful
intent cast off the light of the
sweltering day just as the wind
shifted, bearing with it a heavenly
convocation of thunderheads
jostling and arguing over which
had celestial rights to the
pomp and ceremony granted
the first entitled among them
to announce an ear-clapping
applause for its entry and as
daggers of ice-sharp lightning
electrified the bruised sky, a
thunderous fanfare escorted
the voluminous downpour, with
rain pelting the parched garden
eager to welcome the lifeforce
of nature's elements nurturing
growth in its gruff elaboration
of luxuriously verdant survival.
