Music, Dance, Youth
Within lies a treasury of recalled
word and sound, stored securely
in the underground of mind. Music,
absorbed in an osmosis of
youthful romance when melody
melded with lyrics speaking of
longing and intimate cravings
compelled youth of our day
to dreamily sway and swoon,
dance and date in an innocence
of imaginative companionship
set afire by tingling limbs and
heartbeats outpacing emerging
rationality. Our emotions tightly
wound and tethered to the music
of our time. Long past that time
in the emotional sobriety of elder
maturity the music and the
sentiments surface gently as
though through an impetus of their
own, nudging memory, enabling
the wholesale recall of the words
of tender love, the longing that
singers' voices back then echoed so
compellingly straight to our hearts.
