Going Back

Dreamwalking into fear and
revulsion under the illusion that
pleasure in the renewal of
experiences of joy remote in
time can be recovered if place
is revisited is a delusion
leading to a nightmare. Once
lived, time is unforgiving, never
lending itself to return, for the
elements of happy memory are
destined to remain fond
recollections to which there is
no return. Nostalgia and trust
may lead one to the fervent
belief that whatever once
existed remains to be recognized
in a familiar new discovery,
but reality thrusts its presence
into the equation and the
devastating results are not
prescribed for the faint of heart.
