Family Heirlooms
It is a garment, useful and
attractive, but a garment, withal.
Nothing particularly outstanding
but for its nostalgic value and
that it remains a perfect fit. So
old it is, that the shop from which
it was purchased has long been
out of business. But the business
of wearing the coat for its
utilitarian value remains yet
relevant. Full length leather with
fox collar, it is comfortable and
suited to winter weather.
Drawing the attention of the
supermarket cashier who admired it.
How could the wearer be aware
when it had been given as a
gift for her fortieth birthday
milestone that she would still
value its use forty years later?
Both amicably in elder years.
