but I can quite understand why
your daughter does not call you.
It's her lack of keeping in touch
with me that is puzzling.  In her
place I would do exactly the same.
You have not, after all, been the
ideal concerned, sacrificing,
emotionally supportive guide
you might have been, and please,
spare me the single-mother plaints.
I've no idea how I failed to
impress upon you the imperative
of social, emotional and familial
graces.  What's that?  Led by
example, did I?  Careful, you're
lapsing into shrill mode. What 
are you implying of my mother...?
