The Music Box

Nature's creation of melodic,
rapturous sounds, like the
music of the spheres, in a
universe of exquisite majesty
where here on Earth we hear the
delicate sounds of whispering wind,
water in gentle motion, and
the tinkling movement of glass
inspired Swiss master craftsmen
who paid the highest compliment
their dedicated workmanship
could achieve in emulating water,
wind and glass in miniature
constructs of wheels and stops
revolving in a tuneful ecstasy of
movement and sound, mechanical
like the science of Nature's swirling
galaxies, revolving stardust and
evolving planetary matter. We
wind the wheel of the music box,
struck by the loveliness of sound;
reminiscing faded, loved memories
as the universe spins, expands,
extracts, and inexorably absorbs.
Is this humankind's nod to nature,
or the Universe's teasing gift to
humankind? We will ever know?
