Huge Inflatable Santa Claus Rips Apart Pub Roof
Lest we cynics commit the
seasonal sin of hypocrisy,
we do well to cast our
critical gaze upon the
exuberance of proud displays
to judge the public reality
of faith and commitment.
The lands of conspicuous
consumption so dependent on
the religion-suppressing land
of production opportunity in
global trade shamelessly
panders to products belying the
communist ideal as it rakes
in seasonal wealth.
And the jovial celebrants,
content with their colourful
decorative investments in
holiday cheer festoon homes and
snowy lawns with reindeer and
creche, wise men and inflatable
Santas, cleverly fitting their
girth down sooty chimneys.
There are to be seen tinkling
carousels, gigantic smiling
snowmen, ornaments dangling
precariously from rooftops and
frozen icy shrubs. And if it does
not represent faith that winter
storms dare not destroy that
gay decor, what, then, is it?
