That Arctic Chill

It is unremittingly cold
wind belligerently blasting
an Arctic chill on the
landscape and layers of
accumulated snow brought
in by a succession of
storms has stamped the
season in stark contrasts
of dark and light. Dusk
is falling on the bright
white plush that has
frosted the world and
one wonders how wild
creatures manage to
endure the cold and the
scarcity of food sources
yet somehow they do, the
stoic creatures of nature.
