It takes a wickedly mordant sense of humour
one that enjoys a joke at someone else's
expense when a joke isn't really meant to
be humorous but to humour the reluctant
toward a self-injurious solution to a truly
intractable problem, and a moribund sense
of morality to press that 'solution' on an ally
who views cause-and-effect and solutions
thereof through the lens of tried-and-true
experience that has seen attempts to reconcile
a relentless tide of recurring violent acts
with the imperative of existence alongside
a volatile neighbour whose intent is to
succeed in obliterating an established state
with its very special population finding the
long-sought solution to the security of their
existence through the re-establishment of
their ancient homeland, under deadly fire.
